Computing

“A high-quality computing education equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world. Computing has deep links with mathematics, science, and design and technology, and provides insights into both natural and artificial systems. The core of computing is computer science, in which pupils are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work, and how to put this knowledge to use through programming.”

Intent

At Windermere we recognise that technology plays a vital part in our children's lives now, and will continue to evolve in their future. Therefore, we want to model and educate them on how to use technology with confidence, responsibly and safely.

Implementation

Our children access an innovative curriculum that includes understanding computer systems and networks and online safety, and become proficient using a variety of media and programming tools. They have opportunities to practically explore the curriculum using laptops, ipads and the equipment necessary to explore physical computing, which engages them and stimulates their learning. We use technology across the wider curriculum to support and share their learning in different ways.
